Overview

Looking for an adventure, an escape, or just an opportunity to reconnect with nature? ‘Wildernest’ offers a unique off-grid experience, staying in a tiny house (nicknamed “T1”) nestled amongst the bushland on the edge of the Wingello Forest. A perfect sanctuary to relax and rejuvenate. Or as a base for an adventure – bush walking, mountain biking, wildlife spotting – or perhaps exploring the Southern Highlands foodie hot spots is more your thing. Come with friends and book Wildernest “T2” too!

Wildernest T1 is an architecturally designed, sustainably built tiny house. It’s small by its very nature, but opens out onto a large undercover deck that overlooks a rolling rural landscape as far as the eye can see.

Just moments walk from your tiny house, you’ll find yourself in the forest surrounded by 100 year old gums, spotting a mob of kangaroos and following the sound of the trickling stream to a small waterfall. You’ll come home from your adventures to a hot shower, a cold drink and a kitchen equipped with the essentials to cook up a storm. After settling in by the firepit until well into the evening, you’ll eventually pile into a comfortable bed made with luxurious french linen sheets.

Your tiny house is totally off grid, running off solar for power and gas for the heating, oven and stove. Phone reception can sometimes be a little patchy, giving you the perfect opportunity for a digital detox, or just to switch off and simply enjoy the moment.

T1 is perfect for a couple, with room for an additional guest or an older child (not suitable for children under 3). The second bed in T1 is the day bed, which is a single that extends out into a queen bed.

Guests will be free to explore the property, but given this is a working farm we ask that you please keep out of any areas marked private. We also ask that you don’t attempt to approach the farm animals – although feel free to try your luck with the roos!

The whole idea of Wildernest is an off-grid wilderness experience that offers an escape to a secluded area – it’s all about nature, big gulps of fresh air and whole lot of R&R.

We have a self check-in system, but will be available during your stay via phone. We also provide you with a detailed Wildernest Handbook that will provide all the information you should need about your tiny house, the property and surrounding area.

Wingello State Forest is known to have some of the best mountain bike trails in the region, but also some fantastic bush walking options. Further afield, the rainforests of Morton National Park are a great place to explore, particularly the Erith Coal Mine track at Bundanoon or the nearby Fairy Bower Falls walk.

Beyond exploring the natural surrounds, the local villages of Wingello, Tallong and Bundanoon are just moments away. Perfect for stocking up on supplies or heading to the Bundanoon pub for a long lunch. #bringemptyeskies #spendwiththem.

The Southern Highlands region is a hot spot for foodies – fabulous pubs and restaurants, farmers markets, wineries, distilleries, breweries, foraging trips and the list goes on. You’ll also be spoilt for choice with outdoor adventures, farm visits, festivals, galleries, shopping for antiques and homewares and plenty of crafty courses too.

Access is via a sealed dirt road from Wingello and then a graded dirt road beyond the front entrance of the property.

We will provide you with a map of the property and surrounding areas.

Firewood is included in the price listed.

Please note there is a second tiny house on the other side of the property. You cannot see the other tiny house from where you will be staying, however it is also available to rent should you wish to head away with friends. Just head over to www.wildernest.com.au/property/t2/
